Valentine's Day Lunch

This Valentine’s Day you and your sweetheart can have the opportunity to do something a little different together- become CASA Advocates. Amarillo Area CASA is a local non-profit that partners community volunteers with children in foster care-there are currently hundreds of children in our area who are in CPS custody due to abuse or neglect. CASA advocates ensure their CASA kid stays safe during the difficult situations they face in foster care. Volunteers participate in home visits, phone calls, letter writing and getting involved at the school level to guarantee their children know they are supported. Volunteers represent stability for kids who are often experiencing relational poverty and chronic stress. No specific background is needed to volunteer with CASA and those interested only need to be 21 years of age and able to pass background checks. This Valentine’s Day, CASA is hoping to find couples who want to volunteer together and have decided to host a Valentine’s Day “lunch and learn.” Couples who are interested in volunteering can acquire more knowledge about the program during this orientation session. The lunch will be hosted at the Amarillo Area CASA office, 112 SW 8th Ave, and will run 12pm-1pm. Pizza Planet is sponsoring the event and dessert will also be served to those in attendance.
